Fighting hunger and tackling food waste with FareShare

Everyone deserves the right to a good meal, and we reckon the whole food industry (Dopsu included!) has a responsibility to fight hunger and tackle food waste. That’s why we’ve been working with the charity FareShare to help stock food banks in communities where a helping hand is needed.

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food distributors, made up of 18 independent organisations working to supply good quality surplus food and food donations to over 10,500 frontline charities and community groups feeding those in need. From breakfast clubs and older people’s lunch clubs, to homeless shelters, community cafes and food banks, FareShare provides enough food to create almost a million meals a week for
vulnerable people.

That’s a mission we can certainly get behind at Dopsu, and we’re keen to join in the fight. We recently donated 518 cases of Dopsu burgers – 8,288 in total – which adds up to over 1,521 equivalent meals. That donation has now supported 89 charities, with Miriam from Al Madina Community Food Club letting FareShare know she’s been able to ‘provide more healthy options and fresh food. It’s more fresh, more nutritious and the members seem to be happier since receiving them.’ Thanks Miriam, and keep up the good work!

If you believe no good food should go to waste, you can help by volunteering or donating yourself. You’ll find all the details at fareshare.org.uk.
